Setting up your workspace

Name the workspace, connect your bank, and check the details tax preparation relies on.

Onboarding asks who uses Countorra with you. On Countorra Tax it also asks which state you live in, because your state selects the state tax rules Countorra calculates with: California, Texas, Arizona, Florida and New York are calculated, and any other state is federal only for now. Countorra Management calculates no tax, so it never asks. After that, a useful order is:

Good to know

  • Connect your bank so your bank and credit card accounts, and their transactions, come straight from it — they can't be typed in by hand.
  • Add cash or a wallet you track yourself as a cash account, with its opening balance, and record its transactions by hand.
  • Review the starter categories in Settings → Categories so reports group spending the way you think about it.
  • On Countorra Tax, check your state in Settings → Taxes; you can change it there at any time, and your taxes are calculated again under the new state's rules.
