Lifeline

When your income stops or drops, a plan in a minute: how long your cash lasts, what to do first, and the help you can get.

Tell Lifeline what happened (you lost your job, your hours or pay were cut, your side income stopped, or something else changed) and which income stopped. From your own accounts it works out how many weeks your cash lasts at your real spending, and how much longer with the plan.

The plan lists what to do first, with real deadlines: applying for unemployment, choosing health coverage within the 60 days you have, pausing the bills you can live without, calling your lenders about hardship programs before a payment is due, and more. For California, New York, Texas, Florida and Arizona it shows about what your state's unemployment insurance would pay each week, from the state's own formula. With Countorra Tax, it also shows what the change does to your taxes in April.

Good to know

  • If a regular paycheck hasn't arrived four days after its usual payday, Countorra asks whether something changed, with Lifeline one tap away. Banks are sometimes late, so it only asks.
  • Benefit figures are about what your state pays: the state decides whether you qualify and the exact amount when you file.
  • Countorra doesn't cancel anything for you: pause each bill with the company, then mark it in the plan. When your income is back, close the plan; it is kept.
