Review and rules

New transactions are categorized for you; rules and your own choices always win.

0:000:00
Countorra suggests a category for new charges, and nothing changes until you accept it.

New transactions are checked every hour. Your own rules apply first: a rule says, for example, “if the merchant contains uber, file it under Transportation”, and it applies to new transactions by itself. Rules run in the order you set; the first that matches wins.

Anything a rule doesn't cover is categorized the way you filed that merchant before, or else with your bank's own category. A category you chose is never changed. These transactions stay in Transactions › Review until you mark them reviewed, so you can correct any of them; choose a different category and Countorra offers to make it a rule. Where neither is known, a suggestion from the description waits there for you to accept.

Merchants are filled in from what your bank names them, so recurring payments can be recognised.
