Transactions are the records everything else is calculated from. Each belongs to an account and is either income or an expense.
Good to know
- Add a transaction by hand in a cash or wallet account, or import them from a connected bank.
- Categorise one transaction, or several at once.
- Filter by type, category, account, date range and amount, and download what you see as a CSV.
- Attach receipts and other documents from Documents to a transaction.
- Mark transactions as reviewed once you have checked them.
- Delete a transaction you entered by mistake: it moves to Transactions › Recently deleted for 30 days, and you can restore it any time before then. Owners, admins and accountants can delete; other roles cannot. A transaction imported from your bank follows the bank and can't be deleted.
- Every change to a transaction — its category, notes, amount or date — can be undone for 30 days from its Changes list.
- A refund or return is filed under the category of the purchase it gives back (the same merchant, the full amount or part of it, within 90 days) and comes off that category's spending — never income. It shows a Refund badge that opens the original purchase. If no purchase is found, a credit that says it's a refund goes to the merchant's usual category. Turn this off in Settings → Workspace → Categories.
- Money moved between your own accounts, card payments, and buying or selling inside an investment account never count as spending or income — on Budgets, Cash flow, Reports, the Dashboard and in Ask. Dividends, interest and fees still count.
